My love affair with watercolors began in the advertising industry and over several decades during which I made my living as a graphic artist and illustrator. Here I developed an affinity for design, learned the value of composition and began to nurture the creative voice within. Doing commercial illustrations, I worked a lot with watercolor and began to appreciate the finesse and beauty that could be achieved with this medium. As I grew older and bolder, I moved away from the commercial aspect and began to experiment in a purely creative sense. Now I devote my life solely to painting creatively and sharing everything I’ve learned along the way.

I find my inspiration in nature and feel that I can channel its beauty with reverence. They say you paint best what you know best, and living in the Laurentians, just North of Montreal, has given me an in-depth knowledge of the way trees grow, mountains soar, rivers flow… if I’m not indoors painting, I’m outdoors biking, hiking or skiing. Nature touches me deep inside. Either if I paint flowers, landscapes or old barns, I want to express the emotion, the feeling and the light of that particular moment.

As with other watercolor artists, I dream of the day when, with just a few brush strokes, I can create a masterpiece. Not because I’m lazy! But because this is the biggest challenge: to have so much control and command of the medium that a minimal effort produces the maximum effect. It is a lofty goal, and one that I welcome every day with open arms. And this level of mastery can take a lifetime - I’ve been trying since 2005, and time is flying by -- the way it always does when you follow your bliss!
