Description: Laurentian Wildlife series. The Shawnee name, wapiti, means "white-rump" or as we call them Elk. Although I have not seen them in the wild they do exist nearby on a farm. I had the opportunity to visit and see them live and up close. They are impressive, stately and elegant. This painting was created as a result of that experience in 2018
