Description: Series Pieces of My Heart 2015. There is a world where sadly some humans cast away a paw that they have brought into their lives but no longer wish to keep them. This is "Spook". She was one of those castaways. Late one Autumn, near Halloween, (hence her name) we found her hiding under the fallen Maple tree leaves on Red Fox Hill. She peeked out at me and the dogs showing a brave face but trembling all the while. As with all the other rescues and lost souls who arrived at our doorstep, we welcomed her in with love and care. And she remained for many happy years. She preferred to be a house and sofa kitten rather than an outdoor wanderer. Except each Hallows Eve she ventured out to the same Maple tree and buried herself in a pile of leaves, waiting for us to come and fetch her home again. We guessed it was her way of reminding herself and us, that destiny and good fortune had played their hand in the outcome of an abandoned paw.
